Not sure what this is called. Was going to look it up to see if I need to order a seal kit or what but don't know where to start. This is right next to the front left tire/wheel and has just started leaking a lot. It is leaking from the very bottom.
I would say the leaky seal is farther up inside the hub housing and that is just showing the result of a failed seal from the outside. In doing a quick search I found another post from another user who also had a leak in a Ford 1720 front axle's hub/spindle assembly. They had an exploded view of the assembly (which I have attached here also) (too bad they didn't include the parts list).
To answer the title question; the entire assembly from left wheel to right is generally called the front axle assembly.
The parts on the end just inside the tires are the spindle, hub, and reduction gearbox. They are what allows it to roll, steer, and provides power to the wheel.
The differential and axle shafts make up the centermost section of the front axle assembly.
I'd imagine NH sells everything that is recommended as a kit, as well as just the needed seals.
