If not a roll off, then what is a rollback?

Rolloff or Rollback is a flatbed truck where the bed can hydraulicly angle and lower to the ground level.

No tractor yet, but still shopping?? By the time you get ready to buy, I'll sell you my 5030. It will be depreciated out and will be time for a new one.

On the lighter side, A roll-off is a scrap hauler and a roll-back is an equipment hauler. Roll-back's are used for moving equipment that is not heavy. Heavy equipment like dozers are usually loaded on a detachable gooseneck like a Talbert.

Before buying a tractor like that on e-bay, I'd want the service log. Any competent operator keeps a service log on their equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This tractor is described as NEW, and is being auctioned by a full-line Kubota dealer: Polfus Implement, Inc., 730 Deere Dr., New Richmond , WI 54017.

There's no mention of hours, but I assume the full warranty is available. It appears that Dave has been in contact with the seller, since he knows what their reserve price is.

That's a good question for Dave to ask.

By the way, re-reading my post, it looks like I was emphasizing NEW. Actually, that was the way the seller wrote it in the auction listing, and I was wondering why they didn't include the hours on this 2 year old NEW tractor.

When I look at the picture showing the rear rubber on this M8200 it looks new to me. It may have been on the dealer's lot for a while - 2 of the 6 pictures were taken when the grass was green, the others with snow on the ground. I'm pretty sure a Kubota tractor is considered "new" until it is sold to the first retail customer. In the past, the model year assigned to a Kubota tractor was the year it was sold at retail, not the date of manufacture. Kubota would build a lot of a certain model, store them in warehouses, and sell them as "new" tractors over the next several years until inventories were depleted. Did Kubota offer a factory cab on the M6800,8200,9000 before 2003? I think Loren has been the "standard" cab for the bigger models until very recently.

Another factor is in play on larger models. It is customary and expected that potential customers (mostly farmers) try out new tractors at their farm before they buy. It is not unusual for a tractor of this size to belong to the dealer for a few seasons before it sells. The smaller models tend to be treated like a commodity - cash and carry, no extended tryouts. But ag-oriented dealers supply a lot of machinery to their regular customers and they want to be sure they're going to be happy with how a major purchase fits their operation. I did not yet ask how many hours it had, but the dealer said Kubota would finance it as a new tractor, and would provide a new tractor warranty.

The dealership where I bought mine has three different sizes in them for delivering tractors and equipment.
