What is this on a F3080?

Doing spring maintenance, along with the oil, changed the in line fuel filters (two of them).

See attached. What is this that the first fuel filter runs into?

My F3060 has a setup that looks exactly the same, with identical looking metal 12V fuel pump in-between the two plastic fuel filters.

The wires may be hidden behind the pump?
