What is this part for?

See the attachment. I took this pic from Mike Simpson's site (I hope you don't mind Mike). I drew in a "hook" in blue and added some captions. I have this "hook" thingy seemingly screwed in the top of my gearcase behind the fuel tank and in front of the top link bracket. It has a nut (jamnut?) threaded where the "hook" enters the gearcase. Mike has a B2150HST and I have a B2150DT (gear drive). Mike's tractor does not seem to have this "hook", but mine does. The "hook" was made from round steel rod that was flattened slightly and bent rearward slightly on the hooked end. I can rotate (spin) the hook a half turn. It will hit the fuel tank otherwise. I thought it was a dipstick, but it will not pull straight up. What is this for?

That isn't the hook that just holds the top link up when you aren't using the 3ph is it??

Knight,
The top link won't pivot up that high without hitting the seat or fuel tank. The hook is too far forward for this task. I also thought that is what it was for.

If the hook is hollow, it is the vent pipe for the trans. I had the same thing on my B8200. On my B2710 it is made of rubber and is under the seat. I had a mud wasp make a nest in the one on my B8200 and caused the fluid to come out the fill hole from pressure built up inside of the trans.
