What is this trailer worth $$?

That trailer looks well worth the 1K, it appears that on the left beam there seems to be a "break-a-way" box? It might have brakes already installed on it but I do agree there needs to be a very careful check of those prior to pulling it. Stopping is just as important as going. Deereguy is right on with this one, a little paint, some new flooring and you have a very nice piece of equipment.

Don't count on those brakes ever working. The old style tires and rims can be hard to find. Tires are forign made. That trailer looks too heavy to run with out brakes even when not loaded.

easily worth $1k, have you seen steel prices lately?

those are 14.5 tires and are good axles, spindles etc but might be very poor brakes. The tires are hard to find not made in china.

look at the inside of wheels, if you can see the brake components then there is no backing plate and are the MH brakes. If that is the case, you would be best off dropping minimum $700 on new 6 or 8 lug axles, springs, hangers etc.
then you would have to get wheels and tires: free to $1000

I use Moble home axles and tires all the time. they make both Brakes axles and Drag or idler axles without brakes. i can pick up brake Axles for $100 all day long and the tires and wheels for $25 one trip mounted and ready to roll.

What i get now are Dexter 7K with the standard 2x12 electric brake and a 5 bolt backing plate. the tires are Bias ply Load Range G's. I hear all the time that moble home tires and axles are illegal to use for a trailer. that is a load of crap. all the stuff i get and use off of mobile homes are DOT numbered and legal for on road use.

If it has the 14.5 mobile home hubs and wheels dont be afraid of it. i think a grand is a decent price.

If the 14.5 tires u r using are marked D.O.T. then they arent Mobile Home tires, which is fine but from personal experience the brake system that is on the mobile home axles I have used are not good.

If the axles you have access to have a 5 hole backing plate mounting flange welded on, you are lucky, those are not common Mobile home axles and If thats Ru7 has and ends up not liking them chances are he could just swap out the tapped drums with studded drums and go with truck wheels/tires.

I would say that it is worth it! As was said in another post for $700 you can get new axels w/brakes if needed. That is a stout trailer that would serve you well. New would run you somewhere around $5000

Hard to tell from the pic but wheels look like Dexter wheels used on equipment trailer axles. Mobile home wheels are similar. Mobile home tires are meant for transporting a mobile home on a limited use basis. Brakes on mobile home axles are also for limited use and riveted to the backing plates at the pivot points and replacing them requires a lot of work. I went through that a few years ago with a trailer I built using MH axles. It was cost prohibitive to replace and would have been cheaper and less time consuming to replace the entire axles. MH tires are not rated for road use and I found in NY state that if you use MH axles, wheels, and tires and get pulled over you can get a ticket. 14.5 trailer tires are available at a few dealers. The trailer shown looks like a HD equipment trailer and as I mentioned earlier I still think its a good buy.

Looks like a good deal. Is there a manufacturers name on the registration papers? Or does it say shop built (Doesn't look home made to me)? Why is he selling it? Looks like pentle setup is in lowest position, but you can see where center location is rusted up (where it used to be). He may have bought it and found it to be too big to pull with his truck. Most of those type trailers are pulled behind dump trucks around here when they carry their backhoe with them.

I have a 10,000 lb trailer with no brakes. And I paid more the that for it. Of course it was new. That trailer looks like it would well be worth $1000.00. How are the tires? The tread looks good but are they dryrot. A set of 6 ply tires could set you back another $600.00

i think some more detailed pics are in order for a more accurate guess:D :D there is alot of guessing going on about tires and brakes and axles.
