What is this wire?

Two questions actually. This is for a BX23. There is a wiring harness overtop of the motor and coming out of it is a double white wire terminating in a single terminal connector. Any ideas what it does, it isn't hot with the key on or off.
Secondly, when checking the oil level in the front axle, is the level with the dip stick screwed in, or just with the dipstick measuring without actually screwing it in?
Any replies are appreciated, I am new to this machine and there is a lot to learn.

The wires are probably for an application you don't have. As for the front axle a 1/4" shouldn't make any difference.

I measure my axle fluid with the dipstick screwed in. Rather have a little more than not enough fluid.

Looked at my BX2230 and the only double wire with connector is the one going to the engine stop solenoid. Does it stop ok? Is your engine a D902 or D905? have a single white wire going to temp sensor.
