What is your cleaning and maintenance routine for your chainsaw?

I use 91 or better octane ethanol free fuel only with a good quality oil at 50:1. In fact, I only use ethanol free gas for all power and off road equipment.

Actually, the Stihl pre mix bottles have fuel stabilizer in them. My saws all reside in a heated and cooled shop anyway.

Stihl “Motomix” is a special type of fuel. If you believe the marketing it is a specific blend. Smells different as well. And their marketing says 5 years of storage is fine.

Not familiar with it at all. Just use the small bottles of 50-1 in a gallon can of weasel pee. I do also add Marine Stabil (blue) to all my gas cans when filling them. Not cheap but negates phase separation

Ooh, lucky saws, pampered. Do you have a radio playing music for them as well? Not going to let mine read TBN, that's for sure.

My shop is heated and cooled because of the precision tools in there, not because of the chainsaws.

I think you are right.

After every use:
1. Use can premix gas only. Non-ethanol didn't work for me if chainsaw sat for over a month.
2. Remove covers that expose all of the chain and air filter.
3. Use compressed air to blow out all dirt.
4. Fill oil and gas reservoir
5. Sharpen chain
6. Tighten chain if needed.

Typical is when I'm done with the saw I wipe/blow it off, top up the tanks, clean the air filter, and touch up the chain with my file and guide. Then I painstakingly clean the case of all the pooled bar and chain oil. They always leak just enough to make a mess, regardless if the tank is empty or full.

I bought a chain grinder a few years ago and ever since then I use compressed air and clean all the sawdust off every time I remove the chain to grind it. Some times there is a lot to clean and sometimes very little but figure might as well do it as long as it is apart.
