Here's a couple I picked up from my brother.

He would say one or the other when his wife complained because he forgot something she told him.

"Honey, you know I don't listen to you."

or

"Oh, I didn't hear you. You must have been talking at the time."

If you did something stupid, my other brother would say: "Smack yourself, I don't want to get up and go over there."

Needless to say, they were a bad influence on me.

When the wife if fussing at me I'll say "All I'm hearing is lau lau lau I love you", usually makes her giggle and forget whatever she was fussing about. Gives me time to get out of the room.

When a wife is upset, you are going to loose in the long run right or wrong, what I do is just answer every question with the comment :thumbsup:"YES DEAR" :thumbsup:that is code for the end of the argument. It has worked for me and I am happily married, for 39 years.
