Best Regards to breadtrk. Hope you weather the storm and stay healthy.

Army trailer has been a real gem. $500. Can use it behind the truck on the road to get mulch from the sawmill. Use it on the farm with the tractor to position and place mulch and compost easily. Carry firewood. Has surge brakes that can be locked out with pin if needed. Has adjustable manual brakes for each wheel which helps on hilly ground. Has a dumping feature I don’t use. Pintle hitch is fast, strong and use the FEL to dump. Hitch receiver on bucket. Wide angle rear view mirror it handy. Easy to hitch/unhitch with brakes and then use the loader to load and hitch again. One of many options to use. Army strong. 26hp tractor.

I like your dump mechanism Smokey. Simple and clever.

Do you have a budget? If not there's lots of options. Do you need it to tilt? If not then I would look for a used small trailer like the ones Tractor Supply / HD/ Lowes sell that have the steel sides welded to the frame. I would look for one with a 5 bolt lug pattern as golf cart wheels will bolt right up. The tires are designed for not sinking into your lawn and will float across mud better. They are also all over the place for cheap. Also put tubes in the tires so when they dry rot they will still hold air.

I also started off with a sheet metal garden tractor trailer and after a short period of time the metal looked like a beat up dumpster used to hold metal at a scrap yard. Then the bushings in the wheels started to wear out and the 3/4" steel axle began to bend. You will find upgrading it one of those "why did I wait so long" moments.

Weigh load probably up to 1000+ pounds, width is probably somewhat limited to same width of rear tires on tractor (about 60 inches)... Have hills and a bit of woods, but mainly open ground.... And BIG rocks one is about 26 feet in diameter smaller maybe a 1 inch in diameter...... As for tractor has 25 HP and it weighs at 1400 pounds plus a 600 pounds ballast weight and enough tractive force to break 3/16 chain (in low range) .... So far have not been able to break the 1/4 inch 1250 lb proof chain (yet) on dead pull...

Again "mid size trailer" ATV trailer a bit to small, road trailer just to big... So far the small HF trailer idea (DIY bed) seem to be more in size I desire but a bit narrow and little too short needs about a foot in both directions...... But like a lot of HF stuff, I find quality (durability) a bit lacking.. People in Teardrop trailer world are finding failures in chassis and tongue after a few years if road use...

May have to build what I want, like the idea of a 4X5 foot bed with dump and probably Turn style puncture proof tires....

But with 3/4" axle bore think I would have to go to tandem axle for rugged reliability.......

My suggestion is to start (if you have not already) is to check craigslist and marketplace for trailers. Think hard on the size you want. From your description I would think a 5’x8’ would be about as large as you would want. This will be a bit wider that your 60” as the deck would be that width.
Finding a deck over road trailer in this size is uncommon. These trailers will be medium to slightly heavier but are somewhat common. Any floor could be with some work and thought converted to a metal or plywood floor. You may want to put the floor over a few 2x runners regardless of metal or plywood.

Make one! Here is one of mine--the smaller one. I fill the water tank to run-over full,(110 gallons) and go to the garden. Size yours to what you need.

This was made from heavy tin and 1" square tubing. axle was from a wrecked 1,500 pound trailer.

I repurposed an old tent trailer - torn it down to the frame added a wooden deck and front. it can carry a lot of stuff, has a 7 ft x 8 ft deck, and 1500 capacity on the road. it is mostly for yard work and storing things. can pull it with the ATV or with the lawn tractor, and either one of them can be towed ON it with the vehicles. not fancy, and not currently needed for the road.

I also have a small 3 x 3 ft ubilt tilt trailer made from an old deepfreeze - this was given to me about 2 yrs ago, it's white and in need of a paint job... probably black

Coleman POPUP trailer! I did that too back in the 70's early 80's! Seriously best little trailer I ever owned, pulled and tracked true no matter how much crap I stacked on that guy. It's up in the woods, probably a 10" tree growing through it by now but I'd bet I could cut it out and put tires on it, shot of grease and head to Cali with my Sportsman 500 on it. Only reason it got parked was because I lucked up on a real trailer with a ramp.
