What JD Tractor For Slopy 10 acres? {Pictures}

Just my personal opinion here, but I think the question comes down to whether one would be more comfortable on slopes in a 3000 or 4000 series, and for that my vote is definitely the 4000 after operating both side by side. My 3000 certainly has some advantages though too that shouldn't be overlooked (I can get in between my mature fir trees where the 4000 couldn't, the 3000 is much quieter than the 4000, etc.). Truth be told though, I think it has more to do with the ground condition than the slope, like DKC mentions above. Those hidden holes or rocks will scare the heck out of you in a hurry. Both times I have had the tires off the ground were because of exactly that, and it was not fun.

From the looks of your pictures, mowing up and down the hills instead of across would make either tractor work okay. If I had the money, I would go for the 4000 series.

I've had both and definitely prefer the 4000's. Mine have all been open stations but I think it would hold true for the cabs. The loader and 3 point lift capacity is also really nice, but the 6 foot width can be a problem around trees.

I mow this slop with a Kubota B2920 R4's loaded, seatbelt on and ropes up. When I hit a bump on the uphill tire I get a bit nerves but after 5 years of doing it I haven't had a problem. I do have to say I do mow slow!!

Also as has been mentioned talk to your local dealer and have them bring by demo! My Kubota dealer was more than happy to bring over any tractor I wanted.
