I have a Bx2200 and was wondering if anyone has any reccomendations as to what kind of bagger I should get for it. I am thinking that the Kubota one might do, but I am worried about having to empty it often. I have about two acres in grass to mow. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, woodcrab

I have the Kubota brand 3-point hitch catcher for my BX2200. It does a great job of catching leaves and grass, but it reduces them very little. The catcher is high-quality and has performed well. I purchased mine mainly because my house is surrounded by oak trees. My dad has an Agri-Fab gas powered unit that he pulls with his Snapper... it reduces the leaves to nearly powder consistency, but you have the issue of turning radius and limited backing to deal with.

Honestly, I haven't felt the need for a bagger with my MMM...it cuts beautifullly and the leavings just blend in and fertilize as they decompose. Most of the time, (and unless I left things go too long) they aren't even visible. Kevin also points out something important...the grass catcher takes up a lot of room and will limit your manuverability. Not a problem if things are wide open, but if you have a lot of trees like I do, it would be an issue.

We also have the Kubota Bagger for our BX. Our formal lawn is a little over 3 acres. The bagger will hold more clippings than you think, doesn't have to emptied all that many times.

Of course,it all depends on how tall the grass is,and how much you are cutting off.The bagger does a super job,has plenty of vacuum, and very rarely plugs the boot or the shoot.

We bought ours unassembled and I put it together, took about an hour for a novice like myself.

MReeter,

I don't know why, but I looked at your profile. So I gotta ask...

If you use the bx on your formal lawn...what do you use the zero turn for? I can't guess what the step above a formal lawn is called... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That ZD28F is a zero turn isn't it? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This question is coming from a guy that is still working on having a yard... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

First of all, yes,we just bought a ZD 28 to mow our "formal lawn",the reason I call the yard the formal lawn is that is the part of our property that I try to take care of,spray,fertilize,plug,ect...The rest of our land is "just grass" we also mow it,but I don't spend as much time or money on that part of the property....

Yes we have a BX with the bagger attach...We don't usually bag unless the grass has really gotten away from us,or if I have thatched the lawn and for picking up leaves...we also had a G1900S that was the trim mower,we sold it and got the ZD,with the Pro Deck...The ZD really does a super job of chewing up the clippings...we won't be using the BX for much mowing at all anymore, have clicked up a little over 500 hrs. in 2 1/2 years.

I will still put the bagger on the BX this Fall when I have dethatched the lawn...

I will tell you from experience,it takes a LONG time to get a good lawn established, our "formal lawn" is in its 6th season, and it's just now starting to really look good, deep roots, and healthy appearance.

Man can I relate to that!

20 plus years and we are still working on our "informal yard!" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

woodcrab,

Search on my name in past posts. I've published a diatribe on the BX bagger.
