what Kind of snake is this???

Unfortunately my dogs kill everything that moves including snakes.
One of my dogs attacked the garden hose and put four holes in it as I was pulling it across the yard. The hose is black and apparently he thought it was a snake. I wish you could have seen the look on his face as he was backing up and shaking his head with that big hose in his mouth, his eyes were as big as eyes get, jerked the hose right out of my hand.
I never laughed so hard in my life.

Around here we call them milk snakes...harmless to people.

About 20 years ago or so my wife decided we had to put an insulating blanket on the basement hot water heater. It was an old water heater and the side wall cover was disturbed and cocked. It sprung open as we worked on it revealing about ??? I dunno for sure but it was just packed with milk snakes. We both beat a hasty retreat and returned a week later to find all the snakes were gone.

I think this is a rat snake. We have them around here. They're called Great Plains Rat Snake.

Looks like a rat snake to me as well. Plenty here where I live. Mean suckers when cornered but not poisonous.

I've heard there's a lot of these in Texas. They are good to have around to keep the rats in check and as long as they stay outside where they belong I'm fine with them. We have to remove the snakes that get into my cousins chicken pens but we never kill them, just move them to a different area. Sometimes we think the same ones are coming back.

I'd rather have King Snakes around the buildings and sheds as they eat rats as well and I heard will also keep the other snakes in check.
