what length trailer for m59?

I have a L4240 TLB that fills a 18+2. I would not go any shorter.

In that case a 16' tilt bed. I do not like dropping ramps and nothing to line up.

Although an 18' would be fine as well. Just sometimes they can get a little unruly if too long.

thr 18+2 is only $100 bucks more but I would rather pull the shortest trailer. dealer just sold one 16+2 and only has one left would have to order the 18+ if I need it and when I do this deal if I dont have a trailer I will have to drive m59 across town. So I need to figure out so I can tell him I will take it so he can hold it. I am currently using my 580l that is part of the deal and buyer is ready to go.

Longer is much better here...trust me. 16+2 is probably not enough if you plan to tow regularly. Having more length allows you to balance the load on the trailer much better. Especialy with a larger load like an M series. I am dealing with my L3130 on a 16' car trailer, and I wish it was longer. Really. A lot. And by that I mean both a lot longer and I often wish it was longer...

What do you plan on towing the trailer with? I routinely use my 16' tripple axle dovetail to tow my 580K around but I use a 2 1/2 dump. The backhoe just barely fits so it doesn't allow for any front to back movement to adjust tongue weight, something you may need to do with a smaller tow vehicle. One nice thing about the backhoe is you can let it over hang while keeping the bucket on the back of the trailer. So in the case of a BH that last two feet, the dovetail, can be used turning your 16+2 into an 18.

If you have a QA fel you may be able to get away with a smaller trailer by putting the front bucket in the bed of a pickup (assuming you're towing with one) to give you a little less length. Is it possible for your dealer to allow you to load your m59 onto it? Maybe have him drive it to your house?

One more thing I think the M59 is over 8000k (I could be wrong). I think you'll want a 12k lb trailer as the weight of the tractor and the trailer may be over 10k. With a 250 I think you'll be fine pulling it but you'll want to get the balance right. Having an extra couple of feet may make all the difference in the world. Being a BH the tractor has a lot of rear weight so it may need to sit further forward than a non BH would need to sit.

The last thing you want is the weight to be so far back that it's lifting up on the rear of your truck. That's an accident waiting to happen.

I haul my L39 TLB (which is smaller than your M59) on a 16+2, 12k trailer towed by a 3/4 ton pickup. It is crowded and I often wish I had an 18 footer. I often haul it about 200 miles between home and property I have in northern Michigan, so I like to set the backhoe bucket down on the trailer. For a short trip across town you could probably just lock the backhoe up in the transport position to make it easier to fit on a short trailer. Something else to consider is that if you have any other implements that you want to haul with the tractor the longer trailer would sure help.

Go with the 18+2. I have a L48, and have an 18+2. There is not any room left except for in the front bucket to haul anything else with. If you go with the 16, you will one day wish that you got the 18.

I haul mine with a PJ 20' (18+2) Bumper pull. I wouldn't want anything shorter.

Honestly, you'd be better off even longer. I bet a 20+2 would be a very nice setup for you. Note comment "I wouldn't want anything shorter..."

I tow mine on a 20+4 14K gooseneck. The BH rests on the tail. Rear tires are loaded. I tow with an F350. Tows great but I would not want a smaller trailer or truck.
