You think maybe Henro missed the ROPs and drilled holes in his head? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif On the other hand, it did make me think a bit (yowch!).

Even good tractors will need service sooner or later. I do most of the work on mine myself, but at 800 hours I'll have to have the valves adjusted and that is recommended in the workshop manual as a "dealer only" item so I'll take it to them for that. I'll be darn sure hoping they provide excellent service when it comes to that operation /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif...

Dang, my L3830 has R4's and my International doesn't have a smoke stack, come to think of it, my Kubota doesn't either, come to think of it, our orchard tractors don't either, are you sure about the smoke stack? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The contractor for my 3/4 mile driveway project refers to his excavator as a "tractor" and his dozer as "the D6." His roller is affectionately referred to as "roller."

I don't get why there are all these little gas-powered "lawn tractors" advertised everywhere. I know they can get more for a lawn "tractor" versus a "riding lawn mower," but a true lawn "tractor" should have a pto and tph.

Also, what's up with a tractor trailer?

Well let's see now, first there were locomotives, then traction engines, then Oliver/Hart Parr invented the word "tractor". Their first one didn't look much like a tractor to me.

Randy if you think those kids have no imagination, put them in a setting where imagination is a requirement, like basketball for instance.

My 2 wheel (well, two axle; got 4 wheels) Gravely is a tractor. Don't know what else you'd call it. Maybe sorta like the motorcycle of tractors.

Since I was a small child, I always wondered what makes a Gravely tractor a tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif My grandfather would swear by his old Gravely, and I was always puzzled why he called it a tractor.

It doesn't "look" like a tractor...

Yes I grew up with a 2 wheeled Simplicity "tractor" . I called it a gas mule /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif We had a single gang turning plow, cultivators, Sickle bar mower, harrows... It did most things a real tractor would do, just on a smaller scale. It does fit the Texas definition of a tractor though, but so does most riding lawnmowers if they can pull a trailer or something.

One thing if you pull a rake or mower with an ATV is it a tractor or an ATV ?

Hmmm I wonder if Gravelys come with ROPS now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif And how does the ROPS law fit in on non traditional tractors ?

before I moved to the sticks where timothy and clover make my "lawn" now I had a 11 hp snapper riding mower, not tractor. but it had no pto it just mowed the lawn and sucked up all the grass clippings and fall leaves

Um.. vehicle designed primarily for offroad ( tractio ) style uses.. I guess presence of a pto / 3pt lift is -not- a qualification.. as I've seend early jd B's with no pto or poweretroll.. same for early fordsons.. etc..

Can't even limit it to ag use.. as there are industrial applications...
