My family, friends & my community. I try my best to surround myself with people who are positive & in turn, I try to be someone that people want to have around!

My Dear Wife, who puts up with my craziness.
My Job, which is 99% stress free.
My land, which was tilled by my father, grandfather and great grandfather.
My favorite writers, who turn out a novel a year, if they need the money or not.
Robert Earl Keen Jr, and Tab Benoit, for touring so much. I saw them both at the Moon in Tallahassee.

And of course for the surviving members of the Grateful Dead finding the grit to keep on keeping on. Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Rob Wasserman have formed many bands since Jerry died. RatDog, Phil & Friends, the Rhythm Devils, The Other Ones, and The Dead are the best known. Phil is 73, and the others are not much younger, yet they are still on the road most of the year.

I'm one of those annoying people who can find a positive (or something hilarious) in just about any situation so I'm grateful for having that trait.

I'm 66 and still running around like a kid.
I live in a spectacularly beautiful place. People save up for years to visit here once in a lifetime and I live here.
I make a modest living from a home studio - no commute, no dress code; don't even have to comb my hair if I don't feel like it.
I can take a walk in the woods or plink targets off my back porch whenever I dang well please.
Like Wagtail, our neighbors are spread out and distant but if you yell help here you'll get mobbed.
I have a pretty green tractor.

If the country goes to 'the hot place' as so many are predicting I'm surrounded by the resources and community to ride it out better than most.

An indoor toilet. Running water in the house. A dry and warm place to sleep at night when it's cold and rainy. Not having to stoke a coal furnace at 3:00 am in the morning. Meat every day if we want it instead of soup beans every day when we don't. Weed whackers instead of pulling weeds by hand. Not cleaning chickens. No more cleaning out the cistern. Yeah. I am that old.

That I no longer have to clean out the chicken house like when I was a kid!!!!

Fall harvest, and all the preparation and work leading up to it. And the harvest money of course!!!

I was perusing the forum and came across one about life's annoyances, of which there are many. But, there is also much to give thanks...

So, what are you grateful for?

For our existence and no need to get angered at the gas pump line up's.

FAMILY and FRIENDS, second that, and remembering all those whose path I was fortunate enough to cross.

Everyday is special, every moment unique. Life is wonderful.
