I can see why it wouldn't run if you gapped between the flat on the distribuitor cam and the rubbing block.

Good job on getting it running. Now that it is running.. you can swap those wet plugs back in one at a time and they will be fine.

Hey Dan, I'm the original owner of a 1956 Ford 850 and I can assure you that tractor is small but a brute in disguise. (I have the HD segmented wheel weights on mine which really help it make use of that nearly 50 horse engine) Mine is totally stock except that I installed a 6 volt solid state module in the distributor in place of the points. The points would oxidize if the tractor sat for an extended period of time-a fantastic improvement for under a $100 bucks. You've been given some good advice on this forum so while I know this tractor like the back of my hand I leave well enough alone. Enjoy it and USE it. Post a picture sometime.
