Ok, I finally got a pic of it this am on the way to work.. not best pic.. but is a start. Was going to take one last night on way home.. but had to rush home, as grandma, mom, my cousin and her kids wanted a hay ride, and I'm the closest thing to a farmer in the familly... se we had a hay ride last night using my old 54 ford NAA etc.

Looks like a 80 series Hesston to me. Now just which one is it though? How many speeds does it have? Is there a turbo on it? Can you find any Data plates? Look around the steering column box I think on them.....

I've been thinking some on that color combination. Fiats were a sort of orange color with a gray. I wonder if that could be an Argentinian built Fiat that found it's way north?

Fiat has had tractors here longer then the hesston line which is repainted ones. The color you stated is there colors they have used. Is it a six cylinder? Just a thought for your wife sound guy, try a grand L with cab!

Hi Chris,

Food for thought:

Attached is pic of my tractors.

Bought the Hesston/Fiat 1280 in 1984. It was a demo, I think with 125 hrs on it. Has not given any trouble. Now has about 900 hours on it.

Great with a 20' bush hog behind it, but you need some land to cover, because you may mow up to 10 acres per hour.

Bought the Kubota L4610 in 2001 new. Cost more than I paid for the Hesston. Now has 550 hrs on it.

Hours used, probably tells you which one I like to use.

Kubota about 2' shorter in height than the Hesston. Means 2' less climbing, each trip in and out, plus you can open the kubota cab door, reach through the cab & unlock the opposite door while standing on the ground. You can barely open the cab door from the ground on the Hesston.

You can wash the cab windows standing on the ground, on the Kubota, not so on the Hesston. Most everything else, same story.

Unless you have a lot more land that your bio shows, I think you and the wife would be much happier with something along the lines of my Kubota.

Who knows, she might take the lawn mowing job away from you. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
