What model Kubota vs. JDeere 3520?

I looked at the Kubota today and liked everything except the toe/heel control for forward and reverse in the hst. It just seemed a little awkward as opposed to the JD right toe/ left toe...

We used JDs for years before our first Kubota and my wife initially didn't like the Kubota pedal, but now we use both and she prefers the Kubota though like me it is not a big thing one way or the other.

I am in my mid 60's with arthritis in my right knee and am noticing a twinge after using the JD, side by side, but that is unique to me.

My father in law didn't like the JD when he got the 425 and actually put it into ten feet of water when he hit the wrong pedal, but he really liked it when he got use to it. Some like one over the other, so the right one is the one you like best if everything is equal.

I do not use the tredle function of the HST+, I use my toe for forward and reverse. Requires moving the heel a little, but it has become 2nd nature for me. Philip.

I never got the hang of the toe heel HST use. The GL line HST pedal is set up so you can either do the toe heel or just with your toe. On the side of the forward part of the pedal is a tab sticking off to the side to allow you to put your heel on the deck.

I bet that if you test drive a Kubota Grand L with the HST+ transmission, you won't have to consider the Deere afterwards. Not saying anything bad about the JD, it's an excellent machine, but the HST plus six range hydro really does put the Kubota light years ahead.
You might also take a look at the new Standard L4600HST. It is a conventional 3 range hydro, but the LA764 loader they equip that tractor with slightly exceeds the 300CX ...and it is priced very competively

That's what happened to us when we test drove a 4230 JD. I hate to say it but the JD seemed like 10-15 year old technology compared to the Kubota. We really wanted to like the JD and are real good friends with local JD manager but the Kubota was just so much more of a delight to drive. The Auto-Throttle, Stall Guard, adjustable seat back and about $4K cheaper made it a no brainer.

As far as the Kubota treadle pedal, after a few hours of loader work it becomes second nature. That was the one thing I thought everyone here would hate as the JD X720 has the dual pedal but after using the treadle we miss it on the JD. No need to move your foot on it just rock back and forth. Now if you're doing field work like raking hay, leave it be and use the Cruise.
