Kubota BX1500; Kubota L2800HST
I have a 2003 Kubota BX1500D. 48" MMM, FEL and box blade. This little beast has done everything I have needed it to do until now. I have a bit of dirt work to do along a dry stream bed on my 3 acres. The BX1500 just can't seem to move much dirt. It mows like a champ and moves dirt in the FEL just fine, but pushing dirt with the box blade is too much for it to handle.

I would like to move up to an L3400HST, but a B7800 may be more in my budget.

However, Mahindra and Kioti appear to have a possible cost advantage. (not to mention similar colors!)

Does anyone know what Mahindra or Kioti models would be in alignment with the Kubota's I mentioned? Any other thoughts on other brands with similar size/power?

The NH T1520 had been advertised somewhere as a possible model to consider, but I am not sure that would be at a cost advantage.

Any suggestions and/or comments are appreciated.

Thanks!

Carl

The Mahindra 2816 HST and 3316 HST would be the closest comparisons. Take a good in person look and test drive on these models. You will find them very easy to use and comfortable. Also they are Mitsubishi made in Japan, so quality and workmanshop is top of the line. Good luck with your shopping.

You should also take a look at loader and 3point lift capacities, and also the weight of the machine itself. When you check those out, the Mahindra will look better and better. I love mine, and would buy another in a heartbeat. I use mine for some mowing, but mostly loader and hoe work.

TYM has some great deals. Great Tractors too. I don't know if there is a dealer nearby. You can click on the link on this website put your zipcode in and find out.

You may want to throw the L2800 into the mix as well. The 2800 and 3400 are heavier than both the Mahindra's mentioned. The Mahindra 3316 will have a slight edge in lifting capacities and the 2816 will be about the same as both Kubota models. The 2800/3400 were a little more robust in the front end too. The 7800 is kind of in a class by itself because not many other models compare well in size and weight. The smaller Mahindras are heavier machines than the small Kubotas, but they lack a 3 range HST. You just need to drive them all and pick the best one for you. I don't think you can go wrong with a Mahindra of Kubota. I'd like to have a few of each.

Here is the first quote I have gotten on the Kubotas. No reply so far from a Mahindra dealer.

Kubota B7800 HST Tractor w/ R4 tires
Kubota LA402-1 Loader $15,500.00

Kubota L3400 HST-1F Tractor w/ R4 Tires
Kubota LA463-1 Loader
Skid Steer Attachment $18,900.00

Do these prices look like they are decent?

I am thinking that for the additional $3,400, the L3400 may be worth the cost.

The 7800 price looks ok. The price of the 3400 seems high to me. When I priced them 2 years ago in was in the 16,500 - 17000 range.

According the the salesman, the new 3400's are improved and have a bit more power. I also had him quote the more expensive FEL with skidsteer attachment. He said that the MSRp on the new one's had gone up and to be sure when I compared to look to see that I was getting quotes on current models... or he knew he would be high as compared to last years model.

I would still like to hear from a Mahindra dealer. See what they had to offer in comparision.

Are you trading? The Kubota dealer will probably allow you more for your orange machine than the Mahindra dealer -- it should be easier for him to resell it.

When I was looking, the Mahindra dealer offered me $3k for my little B7100 while the Case/Kubota dealer I bought from (Case Dx29 on A-plan) allowed me $4.5k

There is a good price difference between the pre-emmissions L3400 and the L3400 "XtraPower" version, none the less... the price is great for the B7800 and a tad high for the L3400. The lift capacity difference there is only about 150lbs, unless you what the big frame I'd probably spring for the B7800.
