what mulching equipment should I buy?

I am not sure what you mean by self powered but we can run the head off the hydraulics on the excavator. If you want more productivity on the same size excavator we can also powerpack it as well. I will have to lookup what the specs are for a 335.
Also you may want to rewatch our video's on youtube under our name, we do incorperate a hydraulic panel (door) to limit debri. With the door closed the debri falls straight down from the "throw" side.
And the beauty of our heads is by keeping the blades sharp they will cut the same everyday. And lastly I will not comment on our manufacturering techniques but trust me we work VERY hard in that area and I think lead the way.
Sorry you asked for the head you need and it is here. PM me your contact info we will seriously have a DAH-080C (the baby) on demo in Tx. within a couple weeks.
Excavators put the fun back into mulching. So much less wear and tear you can actually trade the unit if you want and get something.

Not trying to push you into a corner or anything Robbie, but do you have any estimates on the productivity of the DAH0-O80C yet? Just a ballpark figure as to acreage per hour in the hands of a skilled operator would be informative.

A quick thanks to the guys who have chimed in here on this thread. It's been really informative and saved me from asking the same questions regarding handling the numerous cedar branches without sticking a Cimaf in the ground. Sure, it's elementary to many of you, but good information for a newby or anyone else who's leery about handing over the coin.

That is the one drawback. One customer can get 1 acre per day with thick, thick vegetation engaging material constantly. Of course you can get more with less vegetation but that is a good number. It is not a skid steer, on flat level ground a skid steer would win. This is where you have to think about where you will be cutting and which tractor would serve you best.
It would take a 140 size machine running the head off the excavators power to equal what a skid steer can do. Or a 18k machine with 80hp powerpack and a one size larger head. You can do this because the excavator only has to move the head, not move it and supply hydraulic power as well.
Yes the powerpack would be more expensive but you can mulch where a skid steer can't. The excavator will last longer because it is performing only as an excavator and way out of harms way. Very safe to boot.
Good questions. You will have a better understanding after watching one run and probably more questions. Ask away.

self-powered either by powerpack or motor on the head like sneller machine uses. I've seen a 100 hp fae head once. Seems like a mini ex could have a backpack motor to run a mower??

I just looked at a job today where I could go down the center of the road and mulch cut brush on either side using an excavator.

that's why I want one of each! I would like to have one of your heads for my mini ex and use the carbide teeth on my other mower to mulch the rocks, oops, I mean cedars in between the rocks we have in my county.

That is the perfect setup. Carbide on the skid to handle rocky conditions and our head on the excavator. That would also make the excavator as capable as possible.
The powerpack we have for a mini-ex is a 80h.p. unit. Weights roughly 1500lbs so it also makes an excellent counterweight for that is about what the head weights.
An engine on the head!! I have seen that and WOW how unbalanced.

I didnt think carbide was good to use in rocky conditions?

Carbide is the ONLY solution in rocky conditions!

Yes if you could afford both, that would be the WAY to go. I would love to have both an excavator an a skid like I got but money & jobs does not allow that here!!!
My machine is a '05 ASV with a magnum mulcher head with 1400 hrs, with a grapple an bucket, ready to go!
