What neighbours do for each other

I made myself a new rule - Never lend out my tools.

I'm always quick to help out friends and neighbors, or just about anyone as a matter of fact, but loaning my tools is off the table.
Yep tools and money, don’t loan out either unless yore ok with not getting it/them back.

I’d rather assist with the project they need the tool for than blindly loan them out. They’ll come back broken, scratched up, or not at all and I worked hard to pay for them.

I've said it before, good neighbors are priceless.

My closest neighbor is great, he will do anything for us and we'd do anything for him. Loaning tools, tractors or a helping hand, no issues. He's like my younger brother, except anything he borrows comes back in better shape than it left. It's a two way street, anytime I need help he's my go to guy.

Another neighbor does nothing for anyone and has no problems asking others for help. Needless to say the favor bank is dry for them, but they continue to ask. My wife had a hard time learning to say no.

You and your neighbor are very blessed!

I have good neighbors. If we get 6+" of snow, I remove snow from 6 of their driveways. While they appreciate it, I think most have no idea how much $$$ I have in equipment in order to make it look easy.

Our son and his wife both have cancer, 2-1/2 years ago we gave him $26,000.00 cash to pay some medical bills, told him they don’t have to pay us back, he said absolutely not, he has paid us monthly, yesterday he stopped on the way home from work and gave us $1000 cash and said “I should have the other $1000 in a few weeks, thank you again for this”.

Make us proud we raised good kids.

We live in a rural area with all lots being 20-40-40+ acres, so we don’t have too many neighbors, especially since many of the lots are vacant. Our immediate next door neighbors and some friends down the round and I have each other’s house keys and know how the animals should be fed and watered and any other needs. When we go out of town, one of the neighbors will take care of our place and we reciprocate. We also take turns snow plowing and grading the road, since the county road ends about 1/4 mile away and we are maintaining our private roads.

Kids are a little different story. I hope they have beat it. Best wishes to them.

At our last place, I mowed the neighbors ditches when I did mine. He had two knee replacements and it was getting to be too much for him.

Our current place, neighbor behind us can borrow my fork attachments for the tractor if he's getting something delivered that's too much to unload and move by hand.

This was after I saw him out in the road backed up to a FedEx tractor trailer with his truck sliding something into the bed.

He later came down and asked if I could help him get it out of the back of his truck

Thete is cattle across the street. Guy who has the cattle operation had someone steeling chains, binders, etc.... off his trailer that was parked out there.

Well.... three months later he had to leave his trailer out there. I have a direct view of his gate and his trailer.

One night I heard a truck out there, so I grabbed my German shepherd and went for a walk.

There were three guys out there with their truck running. I walked up, snapped a photo of their license plate and sent it to the owner of the cattle and trailer.

Said "Hi" to the guys stealing, and asked if they found anything good. And if it was really worth it since their license plate number was probably already being run by the sheriff's department

Owner of the trailer and cattle found his chains, straps and binders strung out between the trailer and the gate

He got injured recently, so he had his son stop by and introduce himself and give me his phone number. So if I see any issues, I could let him know.
