Mystik JT-8 10W-30 synthetic blend (Services CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4,CF, SL, SJ, and SH).

I emailed Kubota and asked if Rotella T synthetic 5W-40 was OK to use since Kubota recomends 10W-30. The answer I got left me with little or no confidence in the knowledge behind the answer. "The Rotella was within the grade range they recomend and synthetics are fine just make sure they are marked API SL". The SL rating is for gasoline engines not diesels.

I wondered a bit in the beginning...but since my B3030 is only a year old now..and the op's manual they sent with it specified oil that were "CD;CE or CF" spec'd...and the first two being OBSOLETE!??..I figured they cant be TOO particular about the oil going in them???

Actually they are not obsolete. In fact, CD-II oil is still available for Detroit Diesel 2 stroke engines that require a low ash oil. It requires this older spec oil because the newer oils additive packages tend to clog up the exhaust ports in the cylinder walls which can cause hot spots and restricted exhaust flow.

I suggest you go and download the latest API spec sheet! CD-II and even CE is considered "obsolete" by the API! CF2 is considered the newest replacement and substitute for CD-II

I never said they werent still MADE...now did I? And in my previous post..I never said anything about "CD-II"..I meantioned "CD" rated oil

Same here. I've run Mobil1 in every engine I've owned for years. I use the Kubota filters only because I don't know what others might fit that are as good or better. IMO, oil is important... the filter is more important.
