Snowblower What PTO shaft for snowblower

Greetings everyone, I'm buying a used 72 inch rear mount blower for my kubota 3130. Blower does not come with PTO shaft. Private seller. Besides minimum and maximum lengths, what do I need to know? Any help would be appreciated. smoky

You just need to know the length between your PTO shaft and the blower shaft, the diameter of the blower shaft (which usually has a keyway), and how many splines on your PTO.

The tractor has a 1 3/8" 6 spline, the blower is unknown as I don't have it yet. Any class or size I should consider other than length of course, smoky

Seems your spline is standard. You wont know what length you need until you can hook it to the tractor. Most blowers I've seen have a 1" shaft with a keyway but it depends on make and size of blower. 3pt is probably a cat1.

The most cost effective shaft you will find will be metric. Buy at least a class 4 shaft; a class 5 will be stronger. Determine if you need shearbolt protection built in the shaft, or if it is provided elsewhere on the machine. Many blowers have the fan protection in the PTO shaft and auger protection in the auger driveshaft (gearbox output shaft). If the retailer can't tell you what class of driveline he is selling, find another retailer.
