I have a 2001 L3710 HST. What should it cost for me to have the 50 hr service done and have the Transmission/front axle case oil changed with Super UDT? The dealer I bought the tractor from quoted me a total price of $420. Seems a little high to me, this is also the same guy that said the Super UDT will cost me $13.40 a gallon if I bought it from him (even in the 5 gallon buchets). What do you guys think?

I did the 50 hour service myself on my 3010HST and would not recommend doing yourself if you are not mechanically inclined and can not dispose of 12 gallons of oil correctly. I used 12 gallons of super udt, hydraulic filter, hst filter, and engine oil & filter. The original hst filter is a bear to get off. You will also need a big socket to take the strainer out to check for shavings-mine had none. The tractor is not quite high enough to put 5 gallon buckets under so tractor was raised. I had approximately $250 in 12 gallons of super udt oil, hst filter (about 65) , hydraulic filter, and motor oil and filter-plus the big socket I purchased as I did not want to use a crescent wrench. $420 sounds like a lot of money but it took me approximately 4 hours. Not hard work though. I will use Amsoil full synthetic oil for the hydraulics at the 400 hour service.

I had a little over $250. in fluid/filters plus a good half day doing the work and cleaning up. I don't think the $420. is extremely unreasonable for having it done.

p.s. if you decide to do it yourself, get some type of pan that will catch the fluid out of the front end/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Most of the dealers give the first 50 hours for free, but if you have anything extra done than one pays.
Far as pick up/return..thats a fair price.
I would rather have been there to see the service work done, for one can get some pointers.
Did they drain and replace the oil in your front axle also the radiator?
Sounds like your all set for a while./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

My 50 hour was done on-site and cost $385. Course I didn't get any wash and wax with that/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif The point on disposing of large quantities of waste are well made - it sure can get to be a hassle. BTW - I think the oil fill on the 3710 is a real pain in the butt ('specially if you don't have a long flexible funnel).

I do my own service on my L3710, the 200 hr service cost less than $250, 10 Gallons of Super UDT, hydro and trans filters, oil filter, 10 quarts of 15/40, and ~1.5 gallons of 90 W gear oil for the front axle. I also changed the antifreeze and thge fuel filter since the machine is a little over 2 years old. Since this was the 2nd time I've done a complete fluid change it only took 2 hrs. The first time it was more than a half day affair. Re. fluid disposal - my dealer is more than willing to take back the used oil. I believe it's a New York state law, if they sell oil they must take it back for recycling.

Now if I'd only thought ahead.../w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif That's exactly what
I wished for (after bending a plastic filler spout and having to pour real slow).

Well if you do decide that's the one for you, the first thing you need to do is pull out the screen that it comes with (it,s got a little tab for removal and can be reinstalled if you like) It empties real slow with the screen and as long as the funnel is clean you should'nt be getting any junk out of a new jug of fluid.
