for my birthday, my dad got me a 500 dollar gift receipt from the local john deere dealer. he said I should get the toothbar for the bucket. its gonna be my tractor when I get old enough he said. I realy want the umbrella attachment and then use the extra cash for other stuff in the gift shop. He said he would be disspaointed if I didn't get the toothbar. im stressed about this. should I I get what I want or just do what makes my pappy happy?

I hate getting involved in family matters, but since you asked...

He gave you the money - right? If he wanted to give you a tooth bar for your birthday, why didn't he just buy it for you? Buy what you want and make your pappy happy when it's his birthday. Don't tell him I said so though. Lol!

I'd buy as many easy to sell items I could and turn that trash into cash. From there it is up to you.

It was a gift so it should be yours to do what you want. If you want to make him happy and you happy could you both agree on something else?

Tell your father that the die casts are for your future grand kids. That you want to buy something that can connect them with their family roots. Maybe that'll ease his mind some. If not you can always get the tooth bar and either the sun shade or the die casts and when you have some money saved up get the other. You may be in school now but pretty soon you'll have a job and a few hundred bucks really isn't much more than a night or two of hard partying.
