Sounds like your dad wasn't very genuine in giving YOU a gift certificate for YOUR birthday. Giving you money to buy him a toothbar. Sounds more like a birthday present for himself. Sorry to be harsh but your dad needs to grow up! If he didn't have the money to buy the toothbar himself, I'll guess he'll have to wait even longer to buy it for himself. It's not uncommon for a younger kid to buy his dad something that the kid really wants but for a dad to give money for a gift but the money is to be used for something the dads wants is just wrong.:shocked: Buy what you want. If your dad doesn't like it, too bad. If you get along good with your mom, she should back you up. There is no way a kid should ever be intimidated by a parent unless they did something really, really bad. Calling their own kid a fag because they want to buy something different is not acceptable... EVER. I hope your dad realizes he has some serious parenting issues and is going to do nothing but push you away. With all the crap going on in the world, you shouldn't have to put up with it at home. Hopefully your dad will see the error of his ways. Good luck!
