I just looked in the manual of my BX23 and effectively it's written: Box Blade 42" max, 375 lbs max.
But it's also written that a snowblower should not be wider than 50" and weight more than 350 lbs. Mine is 64" and weights 420 lbs. And it did a terrific job last winter.
But, yes it's written 42". My feeling is: dealers prefer to make deals on implements they have in stock. Mmmmm... business is business. I don't blame them, but sometimes it's frustrating.

I had the same experience last October with my dealer. I was looking for a snowblower. My dealer told me that usually he sells a 54" for a BX23. So I said OK. He looked at his stock list and found out that he didn't have 54" blower in stock anymore. So he said to me: I have some 48" in stock it'll be just fine and I said NO (he didn't want to order a 54" /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif ). So I bought a 64" because I wasn't sure at that time if a BX23 was big enough for my needs. And it turned out that I was right because I've changed last week and my snowblower will fit the new one. It's a good dealer nonetheless.

I have a 42" Gannon box blade. Woods now owns Gannon and it appears that recently Woods relegated Gannon to buckets only. A few months ago I saw a 42" Gannon box blade that's a different model than mine, but currently I cannot find any box at all made by Gannon. The only 42" I've found in extensive searches is the Land Pride.

That's good to know SCB and Stef, Thanks. I know it's good business sense to sell what ya got. I'd hope he was genuinely trying to do what was best for me, though, and not trying to clear out old inventory. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
