Tractor Sizing what size disc do i need for ym 240?

I have noticed alot of people don't recomend a reverse tiller in hard and rocky soil the rocks don't go out the back and you have to go real slow in hard soil.Also you hear that the RS series Yanmar is a POS.I bought RS1400 and it works great for me IMHO.I use it on a YM2000 which is the same as your US.240 Ver. I would tend to believe the others would work just as well but it doesn't matter who makes it as much as what your doing with it.

can we get an update on how your disk worked with a gang removed? Im looking at buying a used model thats a little over 5 ft at the back disks. And am pretty sure i will have to remove a gang or atleast 4 disks

Running the disc at an angle with the rear up makes the outer disc dig in more than the center. another thing you can try is taking the rear set of disc off. This will make it the equivalent of a 3' disc because you will need to overlap 1/2 width to cover the center cut of the disc. On the farm I grew up on we had to use a single section disc to cut hard ground. It is slow but will get the job done.

I realize this is old but this does not make sense but it might be true. If the outer blades or inside blades are cutting more than the other it normally is due to if 3 pth disk the 3rd arm not be adjusted properly causing the blades not to be level when set at an angle. Same effect with a scrape blade that is rotated one end engage before the other.
