Re: What size rotary cutter for 7360, 36hp 4\' or 5\'

I do mine once a year, before the first use in the spring. I basically follow the manufacturers maintenance procedure for the clutch, gear box fluid, blade sharpening, etc. Mine is only used about 5-10 hours a year and that works for me.

I don't do that, but it makes sense. My neighbor and I bought an older Woods batwing and we had a **** of a time even getting the clutches to slip with the bolts loosened. We ended up removing all of the bolts, cleaning them up, slight coat of grease and then torquing down. Rust was a contributing factor, but the paint was worse.

I just spoke to Woods. The tech did say that if they sit for an extended period of time, especially over winter, that the clutch disks can become bound up. He said a month or two should not be a problem unless moisture and the other contamination gets in there. In that case he would recommend loosening the spring tension bolts, engaging the pto and then re-torquing the bolts. About an 1/2 hour operation.

I think I'll go with the shear pin for now. They said about a 2-5 min operation to replace the pins.

I guess the dealer is giving me the straight scoop and will get the sale!
