Rotary Cutter What size rotary cutter for a TC55DA?

The TD55a is about the same size as my tractor. The 8' woods dual-spindle is a perfect match. Does a much prettier cut than a single-spinder cutter but it makes for quite a load to pull on a trailer. I've made few short trips with it on my 20' gooseneck but I hope I never have to do it again.

I've owned this cutter 5 years and probably have about 500 hours on it with zero problems. At 1700 lbs of weight, with practice you can do 180 degree turns like a ZTR by raising the cutter, hitting a brake, then easing the cutter back down all without turning the steering wheel.

My point was that a dx55 shouldn't have any problem picking up a 1000# mower... the post above my previous post said something to that effect.. that the dx55 was light or something.. IE.. my response that the newer tractors must not be as heavy as the older tractors in a given hp category.. etc.. It doesn't seem right for a dx55 to have it's front end come up by having a 6' mower on t he rear.. etc..

My neighbor picked up his round bails... estimated between 800-1000 lb on his hold narrow front end something something.... he had 400lbs of weight chained to the front and you could still see the front end get light when he picked up the bails....

The current 6'er I'm using behind my MF150 is a MEDIUM duty Bush Hog 286. With saftey chains front and rear, just a tick over 1000lbs. I've got a late 50's Bush Hog 6'er that belonged to my dad. It's not in usable condition any more, but it spent 25+ years hanging on the back of a TO-30 Ferguson. There was no light, medium, and heavy duty back then.... Just a Bush Hog....And it hit the scales well over 1200lbs. ALL IRON. The tractor had 500lbs of weight hung on the front end. As the lift pump got old, the ol' Fergie struggled with it, but never failed to lift the mower when asked.
