Mowing What size rotary mower?

I have a L5030, my old 5' bush hog will not be wide enough. I dont think it would know its there any way. Should I go for a 6' or a 7' model? I usally only mow grass and weeds only. I don't put much time on it per year so I do not want to spend a bucket full. I looked at KK. Not impressed I am going to look at a LP 1872 and a used deere, both are 6' mowers.
Any suggestions

I looked at KK when I bought mine also and I wasn't impressed either. A 6ft. would be a nice fit for your tractor. There are a tons of good brands out there... it all depends on what you want to spend. I bought a Modern and it is a great unit. You can get them painted or galvanized. I got the galvanized for only a little more $$ and I'm quite pleased with it. They are heavy units and don't have the heavy price tag of some of the more well known brands.

Grass and weeds only? I'd go for the 7' model.

I'm with Bird. For grass and weeds, I'd get a light to medium duty 7' but with enough quality to last. We run 5', 6' and 7' mowers at the farm and it always surprises me just how much of a difference, timewise, that the extra foot in cutting width makes when you are running it for 8 hours.

i will give another vote for the 7' if as you say you will only be cutting grass and weeds and with that tractor even some occasional heavier stuff it should do ok.

Thanks Guys, I would like to get a bush hog SQ 84 twin spindel but since there twice the price of a 6' model I may have to stop there. besides a 6' will fit between the fenders of my GN trailer better.
