What teams will play in the next Superbowl?

The city loves their football team, always has. My 99 year old grandmother tried to sell me some squares in the game pool at the assisted living facility

Most of the people that meet the team live near the airport. Win or lose the party continues for some.

About 20 years ago some younger friends of mine got married and were to honeymoon in New Orleans, their first visit. I asked my dad (retired NOPD cop) to take them for a day as a tour guide. They are both from small town Ga but he was in the 101st as a medic and thought he'd seen it all!

There are many people who care nothing about sports and have never watched a ball game. Some would rather curl up in a chair and read a mystery novel than watch the Super Bowl. Others are not happy unless they are preaching from the pulpit. Some, who I know, would rather be riding their horse than traveling to Europe. "To each, his own" a wise man once said. :cool2:

I completely agree.

But are the men who run the football business of the New Oleans Saints as loyal to the players they pay as the people of the community are to the Saints "team" in general?

I think we both know the answer to that question (and I would love to be wrong).

Don't get me wrong, I was jumping up and down in joy that the Eagles finally one a superbowl. However, the Eagles do not in anway shape or form give me money to survive, nor do what they do as a team give my life any more real satisfaction then that moment in time because I do "follow them". I probably have more affiliation to my college alma mater football team when I can catch them playing on TV because I use to go to the games as a student.

As far as loyalty to the players, yes they are in the sense that pro football is a business and a business hires employees who can do their job and gets rid of employees who can't. After all, who would go to see a pro game where all the players on their team were over 50 years old and much slower and weaker than their opponents but merely kept on the team because the owner was loyal to them?

BUT, as far as loyalty to the fans, NO. A team will up and leave the city it started in if that city refuses to comply with its demands for a new 1 billion dollar stadium or 100% of the parking and concession profits or many other multi-million dollar demands. Then they raise the $4 parking fee to $20 and the $5 beers to $10 and $10 for a bag of popcorn not to mention the cost of admission causing many fans to have to give more than a days pay to see the game.

And although I have never been to a Super Bowl, I definitely went to the Superdome to see my high school team win the state championship for the first and only time a few years ago even though I graduated from there over 50 years ago.

And that's why although I like watching football, when it comes to professional sports, there are more important things in life.

If the Eagles don't win next week in New Orleans, would like to see Kansas City and New Orleans play the title game. Birds got lucky last night for sure, but at least they're catching the breaks when they need them and not when it means nothing. Considering they got thumped this year by the Saints, kind of a perfect rematch IMO.

Well, for my prediction to be correct, the Saints and the Patriots only have to win one more game each to have Brady challenging Brees in the Superbowl.

I "think" I'd rather face the Chiefs. I'm only off strike since they (Brees) are in the playoffs so I'm not sure about matchups.

Taysom Hill flipped that game for sure, saved a rout.

PS I think Brees has an injured shoulder, saw a funny throw in warmups and he missed several deep shots.

Payton wanted to change up his game plan and do many unexpected plays such as his on-side kick when they won the Superbowl. His first unexpected play was the first play of the game when instead of a running play as usual, he called for a long touchdown pass on the first play. These types of long passes usually stand the best chance of being intercepted but if completed can change the morale of the players. This time it failed.

A touchdown pass called back for a penalty and a missed field goal might have run up the score much more. I think that Lattimore's interception is the play that changed the tone of the game in the 2nd quarter. The Eagles never scored again after that play.

I would rather them play the Chiefs for one reason only. Suh has been named one of the 10 nastiest players of all time in NFL football and I worry about him intentionally hurting Brees or another main player in his quest to play in the Superbowl. I would much rather see the Saints lose then win and Suh give him a permanent injury.

Suh shouldn't be allowed to play.
