What teams will play in the next Superbowl?

I admitted defeat when the Saints lost to the Bucs and earlier in the season you predicted they would meet for a third time with different results. And you say that Neilson ratings mean nothing but tell that to the ones who spend millions on commercials on certain programs due to their ratings. But some people refuse to admit defeat, a common occurrence this season. I used to have a little more respect for your remarks.

(and yes, I am a little more antagonistic this year but hoping I will get better as the virus goes away.)

This is too funny...you seem to think that my comments in regard to TV audiences (AKA Nielsen ratings) have something to do with personal favoritism towards a particular team...Like I said...when it comes to the post season trying to associate a TV audience with particular team loyalty is absurd...!

I really can't believe that you think a particular Saints PLAYOFF game drew an especially large national audience because more national viewers are fond of the Saints...!

In the words of the NFL (in their TV commercial copy) "IT'S THE PLAYOFFS"....

In the past it has often been the case where the intensity of the playoff games has proven to be much more so than in the SB itself...many past SB's have been boring at best

Football fans like to see the best games possible...once the regular season is over and many teams have been eliminated all those fans are going to watch the playoffs...sure they may have new favorites for the post season but there are never competing games...they are aired so all fans can see all the games...(air times and other sporting events may compete for viewers)...

And just so you know...although it may come as a surprise If my home team is not in the competition (regardless of the sport) I generally want a close division/conference competitor to prevail...i.e., if it were say the Saints still in it and not the Bucs I would be a Saint's fan...IMO winning in a powerful division says so much more than winning in a weak one...it was pathetic seeing teams with losing seasons being seeded higher than teams from stronger divisions...that system needs to be changed IMO...

I am still waiting for Mizzou’s year for the ages!

Our back-to-back SEC East titles may have been the peak.

But, it is fun being in the SEC.

MoKelly

I primarily watch the SEC.

No, not a particular game! Almost every game the Saints have played in the playoffs in the last few years is the highest rated playoff game of the season, not just this year. I travel a lot and I can't go anywhere in the world wearing my Saints cap without someone saying "Who Dat" to me. But you just go on with your mistaken belief that the Saints aren't popular.

2018: Earlier in the day on Fox, the Los Angeles Rams defeat of the New Orleans Saints drew 44.1 million viewers a gain of 4.3 percent that gave Fox its most-watched broadcast since the Super Bowl in 2017. Deadline

2019: The top 10 metered markets (not including those of the competing teams): New Orleans (23.5), Richmond-Petersburg (22.8), Kansas City (21.7), Norfolk (21.0), Philadelphia (19.3), Austin (18.7), San Diego (17.8), San Antonio (17.7), Nashville (17.3), Albuquerque-Santa Fe (17.0). New York Post

That is very interesting. Thanks!

At first glance my surprises:

- 3 from Central Michigan. Wow. Not even a Power 5.

- where is Alabama?

You are so funny...!!!
You need to get it through your head that you simply can't relate national TV audiences of playoff games to a particular team's popularity (local TV audience yes, national audience NO)...I understand that you like to think your Saints are the most popular team in the league but I'm sorry to burst your bubble but they aren't they are not even close in national merchandise sales...they don't even make the current top ten...if they are as popular nationally as you think they are they would sell more jersey's etc...

BTW...About getting recognized for wearing a team's logo etc...around here (North GA) all I get when I wear a Bucs T-shirt etc. is dirty looks or the finger...LoL...but I do support the Falcons when there is no conflict and I do have a Falcon's hat...

Oh and one more thing about "bragging rights"...By getting to the Super Bowl...this will be the third time this (2020)season/year that a Tampa Bay professional sports franchise has made it to the final championship game/series etc...The Lightning WON the Stanley Cup, the Rays made it to the 7th game of the World Series and now the Bucs are in the Super Bowl....how many other sports markets have ever done that in the same year ?...COVID or not all played by the same rules...!

Anecdotal... I also travel all over the world often for biz and wear a Seahawk hat or shirt... and get a 'Go Hawks' regularly. I'm sure there are many other teams that have a similar following.

And Ohio State?

Would be interesting also to see how many from each school are on 2020 NFL team rosters?

This pretty much answers your question.

No surprise —- SEC leads by far.

@tallyho8...you might find this interesting...

...the NFC Championship Game drew 44.77 million viewers on FOX, while the Chiefs win over the Bills in the AFC Championship Game drew 41.85 million viewers, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

That's a viewership increase from last year of 5 percent for the NFC game and 2 percent for the AFC game.

Note last year's NFC game was the Packers versus the 49'ers... (two teams that supposedly have high national fan bases)

AFC, NFC Championship Games top 4 million viewers
