I just got the B series brochure from my dealer and was comparing the two machines and for the life of me, the only difference I can see in the two specs is that the 7800 has a front hydraulic outlet and the 2910 has a front and rear (what ever that means). I guess the 2910 has a tilt steering wheel, telescoping lower link and cruise control. The 7800 doesn't?

They're the exact same dimensions and power. It looks like the 2910 is a new and improved version of the 7800, but it didn't replace it, since the 7800 is still in the brochure (and in production?). That's like the car makers releasing the new year's model and still keep making the old model year. Doesn't make sense to me. Am I again missing something? Why would Kubota supercede a model, but then not discontinue the old model?

Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems to me that Kubota could make their tractors for a lot less cost and charge less for them if they weren't producing so many different models that are almost the same thing. I'm new to tractors, so maybe you all could explain the logic to me.

The front outlet is used to connect the hydraulics for the loader and snowblower and other front-mounted equipment that requires hydraulics. The rear outlet on the 2710/2910 can be used to hook up a set of rear remote valves (which I'm in the process of doing on my 2910 at the moment.) Doing so requires a rear hydraulic outlet block, approx. $62, as there is just a coverplate from the factory. The 7800 doesn't have this outlet at all.

Correct. The B2910 also has an adjustable spring-suspension seat with arm rests (not sure if the 7800 has arm rests, but it definitely doesn't have the same seat.)

The 7800 is actually the newer one, the 'econo' model and is a good bit less money. Kubota came out with it for competitive reasons I would assume.

The dealer I bought my Kubotas from once said that his biggest complaint with Kubota was "so many different models." /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif One other difference between the B2910 and the B7800 is the position control on the B2910 vs. the quarter inching valve on the B7800.

I agree, that for a new buyer the Kubota model line as presented in their brochures and on their web site is confusing. Overlapping horespower ranges, and the differences are not very obvious (to the tractor newbie anyway) between the BX, TLB, and B lines and as you say within the B series itself. It wasn't at all clear to me until I bought and read Muhammed's book, then spent some time at a large dealer that had all the models side by side and drove several. I took careful notes of different features and the cost of the tractors to get those features, and my decision was relatively clear and easy - but the tractor I bought was not what I intended when I went there and in fact one that I had not even considered previously. A large, well-stocked dealer with good customer service is invaluable to the first-time shopper.

Here are the other differences not listed so far:

1. The deluxe seat also has armrests
2. Telescoping and ratcheting lower 3PH arms
3. Tilt Steering wheel
4. Mid PTO is standard on all B2910s
5. Different cruise control selector type

I think that about does it ...

Other wise, the machines are IDENTICAL except for price.
Skip the B2710, even though it is still sold, it is already obsolete, in my opinion. The MFG has marketed it out of the realm of sensibility.

You just have to love that fact that Kubota offers the customer so many choices. Yes, it may be difficult to figure out which one is different. But those slight differences could be a decision maker for some people.

I waded through the many choices too, 2710, 2910 and 7800.

I am glad that Kubota offered them all at the time.
