Saw this on the road yesterday- no license plate and 3ea 11' Mules crossways on a gooseneck trailer, pulled by a pickup, no wide load signs or anything.
Sorry for the lousy cell phone pic, wanted to get one of the slack jawed driver as I passed but couldn't...

Where is the police convoy?

:laughing: The worst wide load I have seen was a house coming down the road. There was only inches on either side (we thought we were going to be hit). I don't know if it had a police escort but I think there was pilot cars. Another time we were coming up to a light and we saw two state police cars coming down the road. A few minutes later there was multiple pilot cars and state police front and back and a HUGE 18...uh...100 wheeler coming down with a huge piece of industrial equipment (transformer maybe). That tractor must of has 5 axles and the trailer must of had 25 axles with multiple "jeeps". :confused2:

Our area is big on Wind Mills. The new kind. The blades are something like 180' long on some of them. They are not a wide load but 3 times the length of a standard Semi.

I tow a boat that is 13' wide and weighs 25,000#. The weight is not a issue but that width is a pain. We run a pilot front and rear and get a permit but it takes careful planning and you really have to think about the turns.

I personally own a 10' wide boat, the one in my avatar, and tow it all over 8 states. I guess its just what you are comfortable with.

No problem with a legal wide load...I wasn't clear really but that was my point..he was begging for a ticket.

Here in SC where I saw him he needed a wide load sign, flags on the corners, and he had to be off the road 30 mins before sundown.... he didn't meet any of those, and I bet he didn't have a clue either:confused2:
As for comfortable--I didn't mention when I first saw him he was doing 75 in a 60 weaving lanes, so either very comfortable or......:eek:

You probably won't believe it, but I'm going to post it anyway. About a year-and-a-half ago, I'm driving home from work. A nice, long country drive. Kind of hilly and narrow shoulders. Typical country road.

About half-way home I get behind some folks pulling a mobile home. Not all that dramatic, typically.

But pulling this house are four cars and trucks all chained together in a line...a late 80's or early 90's model Ford F150, a 90's model Ford Taurus, a Chevy Cavalier, and some car I wasn't quite sure what it might have been under all the bondo and multiple paint colors, but looked to be similar to an early 2000's Ford Fiesta.

I have no idea how far they had made it by the time I caught up to them, but about a mile-and-a-half after I got behind them the Taurus starts billowing smoke while they're trying to get up a hill, and the whole procession comes to a halt.

The only problem I have is all the electricity is going to be shipped down to our states septic tank NY CITY :mad: :mad: :mad: When is NY going to become the 51st state, I'm sick of paying for its BS {sorry for the rant}

Heck, you made it pretty far then. Carolina is a good ways from here. :laughing: Or did you pick it up here, and were taking it back home? ;)

My truck's only 8 years old. That's apparently too "new" to be pulling a mobile home...this bunch wasn't using much that didn't have a decade or more on it.
