Howard Kelpie
Hi!
Searched the Google jungle for electric garden tractors and ended up at TBNet; may stick around for a while; check things out

Another welcome.

I had never heard of your tractor, "Howard Kelpie," and so I had to look it up. What a neat little machine. Please post some pictures of yours.

Yeah thanks. The Howard 'Kelpie' is the Australian equivilant of the 'Beaver'; made under license after the war. 000_0138.JPG000_0138.JPG

Hope the pix turn out OK

Thanks for posting the photos -- they turned out great.

I hadn't heard of Beaver mowers either. Reading up on them, I learned that they have a small but dedicated group of enthusiasts.

Looking at the images from Google https://www.google.com/search?q=beaver+lawn+tractor&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=zwhUUpmwMZW34AOJyYBY&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1033&bih=610&dpr=1, there doesn't appear to be a "standard" paint scheme for the Beavers. Does the paint color of your tractor duplicate the original color?

Howard had a standard orange paint job for most of their stuff. Mine is pretty recent, but it's pretty close. The original color is hard to locate now. Howards are still in business, but only do attachments like rotary cultivators and such.

John,

The color looks similar to the Persian Orange used by Allis Chalmers to my eye.

Yes, I have a small front blade, that I think is non standard. It's well made tho'. Attachments are hard to source, but originally you could get a toolbar; mower; plows- moldboard or coulter; disc harrow; dozer; tipping trailer. Pretty handy orchard unit.
