Haven't tried the Kubota but I believe is something along the lines of 1 lever that you can move forward or back 12 times each way for a total of 24 different positions. Don't hold me to that because it sounds wierd and I'm only going by what I remember from a picture. Though, I do know that the Deere works like this:
You get your main shift stick to the left of the steering wheel, push it forwards for forwards, back for reverse, and the in between is neutral. You dont have to use the clutch to move from neutral to either F or R and you dont need it to switch directly from either one. Drive into your pile, pick up your load while puttin it in neutral or reverse depending on your material, and drive away.
You'll have two shift sticks to the left of you while on the seat. The closest to the back of the tractor is the range selector, A, B, & C. A being your slowest, B being you mid range, and C you can haul *****.
Your second shift stick is the one closest to the front of the tractor. This is a stick with the usual H shift pattern that lets you choose between which of the 4 gears you want to drive in for that range. While moving you can also use the clutch to shift to a lower or a higher gear, they are all sychronized. The range's though are not synchronized.
