Mowing about 3 acres of land around an elderly womans home. She lives by herself, no husband.
Takes me about 1.7 hours, sort of a pain with numerous low hanging trees and numerous outbuildings that need to go around (some spots like a "maze").
She wants to pay me, told me she was paying a guy last year who could no longer do it for $60.
Can I ask what is the going rate to mow?
Can I assume that $60 is a VERY fair price?
If I only had to do this once this summer I'd do it for free, but on a regular basis this will take some time out of my scheduel.
Told her I would get out the chain saw and pole saw and take care of a LOT of low hanging branches and smaller dead trees (probably a good days work). Will load everything in a burn pile far away from the house (she lives in a VERY old farm house with over 90 acres, but apparently is owned by her son who lives over three hours away and apparently can't get "home" to do the work)
What would anyone in the "bush clearing business" charge?
I honestly think that she does not have much money, and would like to help her out.
I've helped her out with the humane society and I really like her and think shes a good person which makes me feel somewhat guilty if I think I'm charging too much.
Top it off, I really don't need the money, but by the same token, she lives about 5 miles down the road and loading the mower, getting gas and "wear and tear" on the machine is worth "somthing" due to the amount of time out of my day. Looking at doing the grass every two weeks to help keep her "payments" down.
