My neighbor directly across the street from me has moved out and purchased a house in another town. He has asked me if I wanted a job mowing and trimming his lawn until his house is sold. I took the job, but now I do not know what would be a fair price to charge him. I have mowed and trimmed it once and it took me about an hour and a half. I used my JD 332 diesel with a 50" deck which worked out well. Any ideas what to charge, I am thinking $40. I live in Massachusetts.
Thanks for any help.

If it takes an hour with a zero turn or front deck it is at least worth $40 to mow and trim it.

I charge a minimum $20 for yards in the town I live in, one yard I was doing I was charging $30, while I was there the first day the lady next to this house ask if I'd do hers as well. For the same price she agreed, by the end of teh next week I had picked up a total of four yards right there alone (meaning I parked my truck, mowed four yards, trimmed them all, collected the pay and literally went from one house to the next with no real travle time. I lowered each yard by $5 since I had no travel across town or whatever.

What I am getting at is you don't have any traveling/hauling to do, owner probably isn't real picky about how it is kept just as long as it gets "kept" and looks nice so it will sell. If you liked the guy and still do then $40 doesn't sound bad for an hour and a half's worth of work. If you couldn't stand the guy then charge more.
