what to charge for mowing

No way in **** I would shred somebody else's pasture with my equipment, no matter what they paid me. You have old stumps, t-post, rocks, old barb wire, logs, scrap metal, big holes, you name it. Plus wear and tear on your tractor, average-out annual maintenance, etc. Now, if he wants me to shred it using HIS tractor, with a contract that I will not be liable for damage, I might consider, but even then highly unlikely. I've known a couple of people who thought it was a neat way to earn extra money instead of letting their tractors sit in the shed. They both changed their minds VERY quickly.

100.00 for thr first hour then 55.00 per hour after that. the first 100.00 helps with the cost of getting to the site. this is for the first time i mow it, i take my time and look for hidden objects i might hit then from then on i get faster and faster each time and that make my pay per hour better each time i mow the same feild.

Hasn't anyone noticed that the OP never replied to anyone? Perhaps it is time to let the thread die?

I charged my adjoining neighbor $40/hour to do some new trails through his unused fields. I did the first run through at about 12" so I could see the ground and then went back and did it all again at 4-5" and didn't hit anything. I did do some rough calcs for how much an hour to run my tractor and then added my time and thought $40 was pretty fair as I could take my time to make sure I didn't damage my equipment.
I estimated 5 hours max and it took 4 so everyone was happy.

Heck, what's the fun in that?

Just price it right and be careful. Go slow - meaning font jump into a job too quickly. You'll be fine.
