Yanmar YM2500
Being that everyone here on TBN is smarter than me on Yanmar tractors, which one would ya'll buy out of a YM2010D (4x4) and a YM2310 (2x4)? Would you go with the one with more weight/traction, or the one with less weight/more horsepower?

I narrowing my choices down folks. Getting closer to buying time!!

Thanks,
Travis R

Why is that your only choices? I don't believe either will handle a 5' cutter very well.

Thanks for the reply.

Those are not my only choices. I'm just "narrowing" them down. I'm just curious as to what people would choose out of these two models, thats all.

I'm considering a YM2010D, YM2210, YM2310, YM2500, and POSSIBLY a YM2610. The only model that I'm considering that is 4x4 is the YM2010, as stated above.

I will say that I'm leaning more towards a YM2310 or a YM2500, as the days get closer. After driving (not working with) a YM2310, the powershift transmission is literally "magic". There's no reason why every tractor make, and model shouldn't have that feature.

Like I said, Yanmar has SO MANY CHOICES!

Now young Trav, take a few deep breaths. Not to speak for him but I think what he is referring to is that you do seem to make multiple threads about the same thing. Think back to when you originally were asking about Yanmars. Just about the same thing happened. I believe you lost your temper then too. Most members here on the forum are more than happy to give advice but sometimes it does get old to play the same record over and over. You have been given ton's of advice and have taken little.

And by the way, did you solve the wiring problem on the Mahrinda????

No, its not fixed. The problem is solved but the part is not supposed to be here til' tomorrow. Figured I should have got it (the amp meter) about 4 or 5 days ago. Kinda aggravating.

We don't need to get into "Travis needs to do this, Travis needs to do that" (with the exception of Tractor Related questions) stuff again. I have let all that go, hoping that everyone else has too. But when a man irritates me, I let him know. Bottom line.

Lets please just forget about it. I'm fixing to be a new member of the Yanmar forum again (as if I ever left to begin with)! I really enjoy being part of TBN.

I had a YM1700 and went shopping for a bigger tractor. I was all set on a YM2610. I went down to my local Yanmar place and ended up buying a beautiful YM2020. Go figure about shopping for a particular model. The 2020 is real pretty with about 475 hours on it. I got a good deal, saved some money and the 2020 will do all I need it to do.

Settle down, folks. Let's keep the replies to the question asked, regarless of whether it was asked before or not. Thanks.

Travis, now that you've seen a powershift model and fell in love, I think there are times when one could say the same about 4 wh drive.

Personally, with a yr and a half experience with mine, I'd recommend you try and find something with powershift, 4x4 and close to 25 pto HP. You might get by with 20 HP IF the grass is lite and your mower does a good job of discharging the cut grass.

On my pasture, my BIL's 30HP kabota with an older JD mower that doesn't discharge grass very well, strugles. On the other hand my 24 HP Yanmar running a lot less than peak rpm, does just fine. Deck design plays a big part.

Mickey_Fx,

Thats just what I was thinking too (powershift, 4x4, and close to 25 HP). I think its gonna end up being a YM2310 or YM2310D. I'm having trouble deciding if I want to spend the extra $800 for 4WD. I most of the time (speculating) will not be using 4x4. There's only one spot where I'm pretty sure i'll need it and thats at one of my deer food plots. The trail has gotten very terrible this year. I just don't know if its gonna be worth the extra money.

I think you'll find that the extra bucks up front will come back at you when you sell. When you do need the 4 wheel drive and don't have it, I bet you'd be saying why didn't I spend a little more.
