We are building a new house (nearly done), and have been having the worse time with rain, more rain, and mud, and more mud.

Is putting a bunch of road gravel in those areas sufficient so it is less muddy next rainy season? The road we had redone has done fairly well with gravel, crowning and trenching the sides for water to run down.

Solutions to mud?

Thanks,
STL

you need drainage tile and gravel provided you have somewhere for the water to go away.

Lots of larger 3-4" rocks as a base helps, covered with crusher run. Get the water away from the road... ditches and a crown, like you said. Also, time and traffic to compact it.
