What to do with old Ford wrenches

I've got some old wrenches that came with Ford cars back in the day - monkey wrenches, open ended wrenches, a ratcheting band wrench. I've listed them on eBay for a long time and no takers, even for $5.

What would be a good way to dispose of them short of selling them for scrap?

Try selling them at an antique car show. I think if you put one in just about any pre '72 or Tri-Five car owners hand, he will give you 5 bucks for it.

My brother loves those monkey wrenches he seeks them out at yard sales and my grandfather kept a Fordson adjustable wrench on his AC as long as he was able to get on the seat. No sale prospect to either of them though. My brother is too tight and grandpa's dead.

We used to get wrench sets with our Ford and Fordson tractors long ago.

The larger double open end wrenches had raised increment markings for measuring length like a ruler. The Fordson ones had Imperial (inch) one side and metric on the other.

Here's a couple of uses for mine. Nothing too original....

Hook for welding helmet.


Bookends....(yawn).

The adjustable and maybe a few open-ends date back to the Ford Model T era (1909-1927). Add "Model T tools" to the descriptions and you should get some responses. I know a lot of Model T guys that are trying to complete a tool kit or collect them. Post pictures or the numbers on the wrenches.

I actually prefer those parallel jaw wrenches to the regular adjustable ones. each of my tool boxes has one.

agreed many old ford tractor / car owners will likely buy these at shows. 2$ for regular or plow wrenches, and 5$ for adjustable.. and 2$ for screwdrivers and 2-3$ for the pliers with screwdrive tipped handle is about what I see for old ford tools at shows.

LOL They work on everything Ford or not, even metric nuts and bolts.

You might try listing them in the ads section of an antique tractor forum or as a lot on Ebay or Craig's list.

Those are Model A Ford wrenches... the adjustable one is for a 30-31 Model A because it has the added 4 point on the wrench end to check the differential oil.

With over 5 million Model A and something like 15 million Model T Fords makes for a lot of wrenches.

The show guys all look for perfect unused wrenches that match the month of their show car.

I would not throw them away... or if you do... let me know how many you have and throw them my way in a flat rate USPS box...

I would say use them but they're obviously SAE and I only use metric adjustable wrenches now
