What to kill brush with after bush hogging?

I'm trying to get some of my property back a little at a time. I bush hogged and its looking much better. Having a tractor that works is a good thing..

Now I'm looking for something that I could spray on my hills that would kill the brush, and leave the grass. The little stubble is rough on my tires. I have mostly mimosa trees, and few oaks and misc.

If your property is fenced, I suggest getting goats. Sprays may kill what is there now, but you will need to come back each year and respray. Let the goats do it.

It is fenced on one side, I like the idea of goats. We may try that as we get things together, just not that far yet.

I like and use Crossbow. It is a 2,4-d and Triclipur mix. Think I spelled that right. It will be hard on clovers and blackberries but will leave most grasses. Read the label and follow it. It is for woody stemmed plants. Use for a couple of years and keep ground mowed and soil sample to check ph and nutrient levels as this combination will get rid of most of your problems. You may have to spot spray for a few years but shouldn't be to bad. Spent a previous life as a crop advisor.

You have a good heavy tractor there. Spread out the wheels for stability and load the tires. I like those tractors, but they are too tall for me. I have a few places like that on my place I slow down and take my time on them. And only mow them once or twice a year. Good luck. If you have any more questions on spraying give me a holler.

Chemical cleanup of ground takes time as you are limited to how much you can safely use each year. Sounds like it is a yard so use the recommendations for non-crop ground. As that should be max rates.

The goat suggestion seems to make a lot of sense. Where I live, there are lots of Mexican folks who love to eat goat meat. You could make money on the deal if done right.

Goats will do a good job, I understand, but they are also a lot of work! You need super good fences, and also you need to protect them from predators such as coyotes and ferrel dogs. We looked at goats at one point in time and decided they were more effort than we were willing to take on. YMMV

I agree, a 2,4-D herbicide will help your problem.
