I think something similar to size of my Kubota B2620, 26 Hp, front wheel assist. Sure you could spend more and get more , especially bragging rights but save some money for implements. Hardly anyone I know buys all their implements at once and I don't recommend that you try. But here's a list of implements I have and I want more:

FEL
Mmm
Back blade
Ratchet Rake
Rototiller
Brush hog
Box blade
Sprayer
Middle buster
Snow blower
Backhoe
Rip and Dig from Ratchet Rake (not used since backhoe bought)
Home made cab
3 pt carry all.

What is the advantage of the forward cooling design? I have never understood that. I do know when International decided on using forward cooling for Ag tractors they went bankrupt.

Great question. International went b.k. for other reasons.. But forward cooling of the engine compartment is a big plus in my opinion . . For several reasons:

1. It pushes the heat of the engine away from you instead of aimng it at the operator. Aur flow us pushed forwardvand to the front sides instead of at the operator.

2. Cleanliness. The 2 dirtiest place on a tractor re at the very front and at the very back. So when dust and dirt are in front with traditional cooling . . You pul lall that dust and dirt and and diesel fumes right into the engie comprtment and then at the operator. But with front cooling air comes fromthe center of the tractor which has far less dust and dirt. As a result the air cleaner has less work to do . . the engine and other items get less dust and dirt accumulation . . and an operator like myself stays much cleaner.

3. Sinuses and allergies. Being outside is being outside and nothing changes that. But as an operator . . I don't want to be the target of the dirty exhaust or in the dirt air flow. Its very noiceable if I grass cut with my water cooled lawn tractor that has traditional air flow compared to cuttig on th same day with my massey gc1715. How noticeable ? In kleenex apearance . . In the mirror looking at my face . . On my shirt.

4. The screen before the radiator is much less grass or leaf filled with front flow compaired to traditional.

There is a small amount of tractor builders that use front flow cooling . . But also some of the best and most durable too.

1. Iseki the builders of tractors andvengines for numerous Massey products for 30 years.

2. Kubota in all their BX products.

3. Yanmar in their own tractors like the sc2400 series and numerus others.

I had a friend want to argue with me that exhaust and engine flow all hits "the same air". This was a very weak and ill thought out point on his part because he like myself were/are motorcyclers. So all I had to do is ask him what was the difference when he rode with a windshield on compared to no windshield. Then he said it was a redirection BUT not a barrier. Then it dawned on him the error of his own answer . . Front flow cooling just like a windshield redirects the air AWAY from the operator and engine AND outward away the tractor dynamic . . It it both forward and out to the side so it isn't aimed at you and the tractor.

Big difference in operator comfort except for one thing . . In winter it doesn't blow hot air at you . . However it reduces the snow hitting you to some extent lol.

I am in the same boat- having 5 acres and wanting a tractor. I have an overgrown meadow that needs to be brush-hogged, lots of large dead or dying Ash trees to cut up and move and various FEL and grading work to do. I have been looking at the Kubota L2501, L3301 and Kioti CK2610 and 3510. I am a stay at home dad and my free time is limited so I want to get in and get out so to speak when using the tractor. Good luck with your choice.

Long answer to state that the hot air is not blowing back at you.

Yes I do agree that IH had lots of other troubles but the 88 series tractors were not very state of the art and I am a Big Red fan.

Doing heavy tillage there is a lot less dust in front of the tractor than there is alongside as the dust just rolls off of those big duals when you are pulling hard.

I was looking at the Kubota L3301 but in the end, decided on an LS XR4140H. It was cheaper and had more lift capacity and heaver than L3301 (plus, I like dual pedals instead of rocker).

But it seems Kubota customer service is great, so if something goes wrong with my LS- I hope my dealer steps up. Picking the dealer is almost as important as the tractor specs!

If you have an LS dealer nearby, take a look at them. I have been very impressed with my LS so far.

I also have 5 acres. I was tired of working on my older tractor. After looking at all of them I went with the JD 1025R. The drive off loader is a big plus since I hate having to mow with the loader sticking out on front. It was smaller than my previous tractor but I was amazed to find out that it seems to have quite a bit more power. For my 5 acres it is perfect.

What do you think of mahindra. They seem nicely priced....

I really like my eMax 22 with FEL. Just the right size and power for what I need on my 8 acres.
