What trailer to haul 2 machines on?

Then someone is posting under your handle.

I'll say it again. No where in my post did I say a WD hitch will lessen the tongue weight. It will take some of that tongue weight off the rear of the tow vehicle and apply it to the trailer and front of the tow vehicle. It does not mask anything.

A Weight Distribution Hitch provides better control of your vehicle and trailer by applying leverage across the trailer tongue and tow vehicle for heavier loads to be distributed more evenly on the trailer wheels and tow vehicle. This even distribution allows for a more stable ride and better control for braking and steering.

"Lastly (if using a tag a long trailer) you should get a weight distribution hitch for your trailer which will help prevent putting too much tongue weight on the rear of your truck."

That's cut and pasted from your first post. The rest is called backpedalling.

The trailer below should fit your needs well:

If you were able to load your tractor on the tilt, let become level again, then put ramps on the side of it as shown here:

That would work is you were able to put full weight of the tractor on the trailer, the put the excavator up front. The tractor would go in the box. If you had an implement hanging off the back you would have to pick it up before deck is lowered.

Hope this helps, Kyle

The second one didn't show up, just go to the site in my signature, go to photos, click on the plow, then the forth picture should say "modified trailer."

Hope it works!

One thing in this thread I don't totally agree with is the tongue weight. The amount of tongue weight that a tag along needs depends on tailer length from axle to hitch. On my 24' tag any load I put on and kept level pulls perfect. At first I wasn't sure about the axles being far back on my trailer but after some experience using it I've seen how that allows you to limit tongue weight and still maintain a steady ride. IMO the key to tag alongs is the trailer hauls the load and the truck just pulls. In both these pics the tongue load is about the same and probably between 500-700lbs.

Rick,
Here's my final remark in this thread.
From my statement above that you cut and pasted, I don't know how you figure I'm saying a WD hitch lessens tongue weight. It does not say that at all. NO backpedaling at all. The weight distribution hitch does not change the tongue weight at all. The weight distribution hitch will prevent all of the trailer tongue weight from being directly placed on the rear of the truck. It does this by transferring or distributing that same tongue weight to the entire truck. Apparently you have never used a WD hitch before or you are misreading or misinterpreting what I said. Please add me to your list of people to ignore. Thanks

Thats some nice stuff there! I originally wanted a tilt but couldn't find the right one for my needs. 3 axles is overkill for mine aps but I'll bet the BP versions limit Tongue weight and pull nice. Got to weight more than stated though.

You can put the excavator and trailer on this one, and have full deck space up front, so the tilt wouldn't interfere with the mini-x.

Good looking trailer Farmboy12 and your idea of loading from the side is a real eye opener. I think I would need a heavier tow truck but I can now see getting two machines on one trailer is possible. Any other ideas would be interesting to see as well. Thanks!

Actually, if you put all the weight of the tractor on the axles and behind them, then have the mini-x in front of the axles, it has good tongue weight, but not to much tongue weight. The load would be balanced. Also, if you are the kind of guy who doesn't like any tongue weight, custom order your trailer so the axles are further forward.
