Hello-

I am researching a new purchase. What is the specific model of hydrostatic transmission in the CC GT 2544? More specifically the torque rating for the unit? Cub site only shows it as a "cast Iron".

Thanks-John

The transmission is a Hydrogear BDU-10, but the gearing in the housing is sourced from somewhere else. Don't know what the torque rating is at the rear axle, never seen it listed anywhere.

Yep, the transaxle assembly is a mixture of parts. The Hydro-Gear hydro drive is coupled directly to the input on the diff housing. The cast iron axle/differential housing is stamped made in China. The powdered metal gearing inside most likely is made in China too. Dunno about the bearings and seals, but you can bet from the lowest cost supplier. IMO, the setup compares to a higher end TuffTorq rear that you'd find in a $6K JD, but is it better?? I dunno. I've only heard of maybe one 2K series failure and a few 3K series.

When the 2500 series was introduced in 2003, the Cast Iron tranny was the same as what was used on the 3000 series Cubs. That is what my dealer told me.
