What Tree/Shrub/Weed?

I have several of these on the property. They grow fast, are weak, but reach tree size proportion. I am guessing I have a few that are 30-40' tall.
The seed pods start out bright orange and fade to the hue in the picture.

What are they?

I think those are what we used to call "Brooklyn Palm Trees" up there.
I think down here they are called mimosa?

I'm battling tree of heaven on my ground. It is nasty in that it is like tree sized dandelions. The recommendation from the state forester was to spray a 3 foot section of the trunk with a mixture of 50% diesel fuel and 50% Garlon 4 (My memory is a little fuzzy on the exact herbicide.) Being a guy with power tools, I opted for a more forceful approach, i.e., the chain saw and brush cutters. While that is satisfying and can bring large specimens down quickly (I had one that was 24" in diameter.) it requires a follow up visit with glyphosate. Once I cut the trees, new ones quickly erupt from the root structure. I spray those with a 2% to 5% glyphosate solution. That seems to be the final blow for about 95% of the subsequent growth. I then come back and spray the new growth with more glyphosate and that seems to be the end of it. I had a bad infestation so I'm still after them and will be for a couple more years. Going after them quickly. They will take over and basically eradicate almost everything else. I've got enough left that I will probably try the recommended basal treatment but I seem to remember that that approach is most effective for smaller specimens. HTH.

There is a lot of info on the web on killing out ToH. Be sure to read up on it.
.....Do NOT just go cutting it down. It will spread like leaks from the WH.
.... My method was the hack&squirt method.
Hack or drill a few spots about an inch into the tree....make as many cuts as the diameter of the tree, and fill with straight glyphosate. ......Other herbicides, work even better, but I had glyphosate on hand.
It works, just takes some time.

25% Triclopyr (Garlon 4) in diesel works great for basal application on poison oak. It takes about a month but kills it dead dead dead. Crispy dead. I only have to lightly spray about 18" of the stem. So useful for plants whose leaves are 30' up in a tree and unreachable by foliar spray. I also use it on cut stumps of brush (mostly coyote brush) to kill the plant. Otherwise coyote brush resprouts within days. You have to apply it to the cut right after cutting, like within a half hour. Direct undiluted application of homeowner grade glyphosphate with a paintbrush works too.

Triclopyr works when the plant is actively growing. Poison oak shuts down in August so I'll switch to glyphpsphate if I need to spray more. I like Triclopyr because it's broadleaf specific instead of generic like glyphosphate and doesn't remain active in the soil.

Tree of Heaven. Up here I occasionally see them as ornamentals but they don't seem to spread when used that way. While a lot of glyphosate will eventually do the job, Garlon 4 or the generic tryclopir is probably the best answer.

I'm a fan of triclopyr, but it is pricey. I use undiluted 41% glyphosate to spray freshly cut stumps (e.g., Chinese privet, Bradford pear, black cherry, red maple, box elder, sycamore, etc.) and I have yet to have any regrowth from the treated stumps. Rural King sells 2.5 gallons of 41% glyphosate for $32. As I recall, the label says the 41% glyphosate can be diluted up to 50% with water or diesel for cut stump applications. IMO, 41% glyphosate is more cost-effective for cut-stump applications.
