What TV did you watch as a kid?

"Astro Boy" is one which I vaguely remember... mostly because of the uneasiness I felt every time they packed him up into a suitcase.
I guess that claustrophobia starts early in life.

I always wondered why TV went off at night in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Was it loss of revenue in those hours or federal regulations?
Besides the lack of revenue in the wee hours, there was the electric bill and wear and tear on the transmitter, which had some really pricey, high power tubes. I could be wrong, but I think that WSJV's transmitter was 1,000,000 watts.

What TV?

IIRC ours was an RCA, I remember, my best friend's family had a Magna Vox.Console type with doors to close over the screen ;-)

I recall watching

Betty Boop
Pow Wow the Indian Boy
Clutch Cargo
L'iil Rascals

What's my line, and the "game shows" were on. The Ted Mac Original Amateur Hour was so bad I just had to watch ;-) And then "The Really big show"

Disney World and Bonanza were the first color TV shows.

As a young teen evening shows, Paladin, The Rebel, Combat, Lawman, Bat Masterson. And what was the series with the trade mark Large opening lever on a Win 94? Even, The Lone Ranger for Pete's sake. Sky King for sure
American Bandstand on rainy Saturdays. Hogan's Heros, Guilligan's Island, Dragnet, My Favorite Matian, I dream of Geni, Lassi, My Favorite Monster, "Dennis the Menace", SUPERMAN!!!, Andy of Mayburry, Leave it to Beaver, Tarzan.

Gosh, I spent way too much time watching TV, where were all the girls when I was 8?

Roan and Martin, The Smothers Brothers, Hootnanny

I would watch (sort of) the "Saturday Night fights" . My dad would make popcorn and sit down in the overstuffed chair and watch the whole thing. I would do "exercises" out of the Canadian Military Five Basic Exercise (5BX) booklet. I had a chin up bar in the doorway to the kitchen, and could see the screen from there. It was about the only time I got to spend with my dad. He was a traveling salesman. Came home late Fridays after I had gone to bed. And was sort of sour most of the time on weekends, Certainly didn't want to disturb his reading of the Sunday paper.... He drove off Monday morning early. I can still smell the pipe tobacco. ;-)

In my own family , we bought a TV when the youngest son took a fancy to basket ball and want to watch M. Jordan. I've always wondered if the older two kids felt thier mother and I cheated them ;-)
When that phase ended, The wife and I would get our news from Colbert and the other guy's comedy hour. After a while, the only thing I watched was Hockey. Both college and Pro (Big UND fan)
It's been 10 years, maybe 15 since we had TV in the house. I don't miss it, the world has gone to the *******, and TV is one of the big reasons why.

"We will no return you to your regularly scheduled PROGRAMING!"

The Medium IS the MESSAGE.

It used to be "Don't sit too close, It will hurt your eyes", Now the metaverse is putting people in goggles.

Can't fix stupid!

I don't know their power. I know that when you're at the 4H fairgrounds and look up over at WSBT's tower, it doesn't look very tall.... it's 1100'!

I used to work with one of their engineers. One had to be onsite at all hours of operation. So one day he's sitting in the office in the building over there, and working with a tower monkey that had to do some work at the top. They climber tells him he's going up. They both go outside and the guy climbs up the tower. He gets to the top, and my friend goes back inside. A short while later, the walkie-talkie burps and the climber says "Is there a 9/16" wrench sitting on the desk down there?" My friend looks around and yep! "Yes, it's here."

"$%&%^$!!!!"

20 minutes later the guy walks in, grabs the wrench off the desk, turns around and walks back out.

🤣

Stupidity isn't limited to any one generation. We all were when we were young, some of us smartened up as we aged.

I do wonder how the ubiquity of computers and especially cellphones affects vision, especially these days when grammar school-age kids are glued to them. Can't be good for the eyes spending hours staring at those dinky little screens. Likewise, listening to music with headphones/earplugs definitely isn't good for the hearing.
