She had a thing for Charlton Heston.
Very true. On the rare occasions I'll watch one of those vintage tv shows I'm immediately struck by how hokey and artificial everything is. Westerns where everyone is wearing clean clothes, no dust or mud anywhere, etc. Pretty sure Dodge City didn't look like that back in the 1800s.Different generation. Target viewers today would find issues with the shows/people/viewpoints of the past, just as our parents found fault with what we watched/how we dressed and looked// our opinions.
Times change. Less than a century ago women were scorned for wearing anything except a dress or skirt.
When I was a kid in the 60's my best friend's mom always dressed up for the day. It was kinda like a TV show at that house. We'd go inside after a hard day of playing, and she'd offer us a Pepsi. One 16oz Pepsi split between 4 of us. In little aluminum cups like these. On a tray!Very true. Then there were the stay at home housewives (Donna Reed, June Cleaver, etc.) who we're expected to believe cooked and did housework in a dress and high heels. None of my friends' mothers ever looked like that! My father hardly ever wore a suit & tie, period let alone around the house!
While I think we've gone a bit too far with "blue" language on tv these days, it's likewise hard to believe "gosh-a rooney" was the worst expletive real people used in 1962.
At my last job, we got a guy brought in from a sister company to be our telecomm guy. He's about 15 years older than me. While going though some files and folders on our bulletin board system (yes, I'm old), I found a folder that was labeled "Bad Joes". I started laughing. Inside that folder were all of the accounts of the folks that had gotten kicked off the BBS for various reasons.....

I guess there must have been, but I only recognize about a third of the ones you posted. The wonderful thing was that there were young women just as beautiful everywhere. I even had one right next door when I was in high school. I usually didn't get home until late because of after school activities, so I had her watch American Bandstand for me. Then we would buy 45s of the music and she could teach me the latest dance steps. Is it just me or weren't there so many amazingly beautiful female TV stars if the 1960s? No piercings or tattoos.
Very few TV shows have been as good as the original half hour Twilight Zone.I was going to mention Night Gallery...![]()
